Here at Raccoon River Retreats, We offer both canoe and kayak rentals and shuttles along the Middle Raccoon River between Panora, and Redfield Iowa. We are located just 35 minutes from Des Moines, so load up the car and head on over! The Middle Raccoon River is one of the greatest rivers in all of Iowa to float, Sporting numerous sandbars, small rapids and good access sites, the Middle Raccoon River offers everyone a leisurely “Get away from it all” atmosphere. With its small rapids, twist and turns, and an average depth of about 3 feet, not only is it a fun river to float, the Middle Raccoon River is not only fun for anyone from the inexperienced to the expert paddler, but it is also safe for the whole family. Come and paddle the Middle Raccoon River between Panora and Redfield. and you’ll see why people come from miles around just to enjoy the perfect blend of challenge, and leisure, along this 16 1/2 mile portion of river.
