Jay’s Boat Dock on Boone Lake in Tennessee was opened in 1952 by Jay McCracken. Jay was not a fisherman nor could he swim. His love of boats and people helped him recognize the need for a family-friendly atmosphere catering to the needs of folks who enjoy all different aspects of lake life. During the early years, boats were kept on buoy lines and towed to the dock for customers to board. Jay’s was a small floating structure offering snacks, Davis’ prepackaged sandwiches, bait, and gas. The business expanded and modernized when Jay’s son, Don, took over in 1984 following Jay’s passing. Boat slips were constructed, and a land-based marina was built following a fire in July 1986. Don’s daughter Cindy has been managing the business since 2016. With Don’s passing in the fall of 2021, Carolyn and Cindy are carrying on the family traditions. Jay’s is proud to serve a clientele that has been with us through many changes and loads of good times and memories.
